Macmillans Centre Southport

We need your help!

Dear Supporters and Members

Two weeks ago, we were invited to a meeting with Southport and Formby Primary Care Network, to be told that they are planning to end our funding in March 2027.

This will mean that we will no longer be able to run our Cancer Navigator Service, where staff link in with GP Practices to provide emotional, practical and financial support to cancer patients and their families.

Last year we helped over 600 cancer patients via this scheme in the Southport and Formby area.  Without this link to GP Practices, we will be relying on patients finding out about our service through their hospital teams or word of mouth and it is very likely that people experiencing a cancer diagnosis, may not get to hear about our service until several months down the line.

We will also no longer be able to provide our exercise classes or the ongoing one to one support that patients have received from their Cancer Navigator.

If you would like to help us to overturn this decision, then please write to your MP and your GP.  It would especially help us if you can mention any support that you may have had from us. There is a draft letter you can download below, in which you can insert your own words about the support you have received, along with the email addresses of our local MPs.

Our Southport Macmillan Cancer Centre will continue to operate but our service offer will be greatly reduced.  We want to continue to offer the best possible service for local cancer patients and their families and we are fighting to keep our full funding.
